Bamboo is a fibre source that demands less of the environment than dedicated cotton or tree plantations. It acts like a weed, sprouting wherever heat and soil humidity are adequate. You cannot cut bamboo down with a chain saw because the fibres gum up the sawteeth, so it must be cut down by machete - creating employment and diminishing greenhouse gases to zero.
